A standard baseball fielding glove will need 4 pieces for a full relace. If your glove has a Trapeze style web or a modified trap web, it will need another 1-2 pieces. Some larger softball gloves that are 13 inch or larger will need 5-6 pieces of lace.

1/4x72 is wider than 3/16x72. Most gloves will use the 3/16x72 inch lace. There are some gloves that will use 1/4x72 in the web and across the finger tops.

Yes, most of the time. You can always use the 3/16” wide lace. You may not be able to use 1/4” lace because it may be too big for the holes and can cause the holes to split, and that would not be good.

Yes. We just call it finger hole lace. It is split really thin, almost paper thin. It is 3 oz or about 1-2mm thick. We have it available in a few colors and it is 3/16” wide like the standard lace.

Those older vintage gloves generally used lace that is 5/32" wide and a little thinner than our standard lace. We have that available in 5/32 x 72 inch. It is split to about 5 oz or 2mm thickness.

Most gloves use 3/16” width lace. You can measure it to be sure. The lace will sometimes shrink over time, so it may measure thinner. If you notice two different sizes, the lace in the top of the fingers and the web might be wider. In that case those are probably ¼” wide and the rest of the glove is 3/16” wide. Only  a few gloves were designed for ¼” lace throughout the whole glove.

Yes. Fastpitch Softball Gloves can also be used for Baseball. And baseball gloves can be used in softball. Use the glove that fits your hand and feels the best to you.

The main difference is that Akadema Fastpitch Gloves are designed for a ladies hand. They are a little smaller in the fingers and the finger stalls are a little closer together to make them fit a ladies hand better. Men and boys can still use them, your hand just may be too big.

Normally, we would suggest the Youth (Prodigy or Rookie Series) but in your case I would suggest moving into the Fastpitch Design Series. The AJB 74 is a 12 inch pattern, or the ACE70 is a13" pattern. The smaller finger stalls and Grasp Clasp Wrist system will help these gloves to be manageable on a smaller hand.

Fastpitch Design is designed for ladies and specifically the catchers mitts are for softball. The Prosoft Series is a mens glove, with larger finger stalls and such. Prosoft catchers mitts are for Baseball.  The leather and many other quality features are the same. It is the same US Steerhide as the Professional gloves. The leather is tanned to provide a quick break in.
